Why Choose Red Label For Your 2x72 Ceramic Sanding Belts?

Red Label Abrasives is a family-owned manufacturer based in Michigan. All of our products are produced right here in the United States. We manufacture industrial-grade belts made-to-order. So, you’re getting fresh, high-quality belts that have just been produced instead of belts that have been sitting on a rack for months. As a family-owned company we take great pride in the customer service and technical support we provide. Our abrasive technicians are always here to help you with your order, troubleshoot a belt issue, or help you find the best belt for your application. You’ll have trouble finding better belts with better customer service anywhere on the web.

Why Are Ceramic Belts The Best Belts For Knife Making?

Years ago, it used to be that zirconia was the best grain type for knife making. That is no longer the case. Ceramic belts cut faster than zirconia belts and last longer as well. Red Label’s Edgecore Ceramic belts take the ceramic advantage even further by evenly microfracturing during use to mitigate heat (even at high grinding speeds). Aluminum oxide and zirconia belts are still used for knife making today, but you’ll get better performance and value out of ceramic belts. No other belt will profile, bevel grind, edge sand, or sharpen better.

Why Use 2” x 72” Sanding Belts?

If you already own a 2” x 72” belt grinder, you’d choose a 2” x 72” belt, because that’s the size that would fit your grinder. However, if you’re new to knife making and shopping for both a new grinder and belts to accompany the grinder, you may be curious to know why you might choose a 2” x 72” grinder. At Red Label Abrasives, we don’t particularly endorse any specific size of grinder. Great knives could come from a wide array of different grinders. Nevertheless, the great thing about 2” x 72” grinders is that they strike a nice balance between being large enough for intense grinding and stock removal while remaining small enough to easily perform fine, detail work. The 72” length also helps to reduce wear and heat build-up that smaller belts experience. 2x72 inch grinders also have more accessories available (rotary platens, surface grinding attachments, wheel attachments, etc.). It is for these reasons that 2x72 inch grinders and belts are the most common size used for knife making.

What Grinders Will These Belts Fit?

Our 2x72 ceramic belts will fit any 2x72 belt grinder. Common 2x72 belt grinders include the AmeriBrade 2x72 Grinder, Brodbeck Ironworks grinders, KMG Industrial Belt Grinder, Wilton Square Wheel Grinder, Hardcore Belt Grinder, Black Fox One, Black Fox Pro, Bob Dozier Grinder, Bader Bill, and Reeder Grinders. Our premium ceramic knife making belts will fit any of these grinders and more.

Customer Reviews (5.0 / 5 · 5 reviews)

Eva ★★★★★

The cut rate on these is honestly impressive, and they run noticeably cooler than the cheaper belts I’ve burned through before. I’ve gotten through a full batch of knife blanks without the glaze-over that usually slows me down. Definitely grabbing another pack.

Hannah ★★★★★

Been using these on some hardened steel knife bevels and the ceramic really does run noticeably cooler than the aluminum oxide belts I had before. The cut rate stayed aggressive straight through to the end of the belt's life.

Andrew K. ★★★★★

My last set of belts wore out way too fast, but these EdgeCore ones barely looked used after a full day of heavy grinding on stainless steel. They cut cooler and quicker, which made a noticeable difference in how fast I could work through the stock. Definitely sticking with these from now on.
