Our 6x48 industrial grade silicon carbide belts are the perfect choice for fine finishing with lighter pressure. Silicon carbide is extremely sharp and friable, making it ideal for heat sensitive applications but not as long lasting as other abrasive materials. Its unique characteristics make silicon carbide a great choice for paint removal, sanding between coats, knife scale finishing, lapidary, or any application requiring consistent scratch patterns. Wet or dry applications. Hand built in the USA.

These belts cut surprisingly cool on my metal stock, the silicon carbide grit really does stay sharp longer than the aluminum oxide ones I used before. I've been using the 120 grit for blending welds and it leaves a much smoother surface with almost no heat buildup.
