The cotton backing on these belts is so much softer than the standard ones I've tried—it follows the contour of a steel edge without gouging. Closed coat means they keep cutting long after I expected them to dull.

Finally, a belt that doesn't scorch the steel—the closed coat aluminum oxide lays down a smooth finish on my knife bevels without loading up. The full cotton backing is pliable enough to hug a contour but still holds its edge for a solid session. This is my new go-to for blending and finishing.
